Rebecca Cochrane is a partner practising corporate and securities law with a focus on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and venture capital. Rebecca works with a number of start-ups, and has helped clients grow from pre-seed financing rounds through to IPOs and M&A exits. Rebecca also works with institutional clients, including seasoned publicly-listed issuers and venture capital funds. Rebecca aims to provide pragmatic advice rooted in each client’s unique business needs. She enjoys working with clients who want to innovate and creatively solve problems. Prior to joining the firm, Rebecca worked in the legal department of one of Canada’s largest independent investment fund companies and also worked as a researcher for a mergers and acquisitions boutique in Toronto. Rebecca has been a recipient of the Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch award in the category of Mergers & Acquisitions on multiple occasions. Rebecca is a member of the firm’s Students Committee.Rebecca is an adjunct professor at Osgoode Hall Law School, where she teaches Securities Regulation. Rebecca is a regular presenter at the Canadian Fintech Summit, where she has discussed issues facing start-ups and their investors. Rebecca is also a member of Alliott Global Alliance’s Young Professionals Group. Alliott Global Alliance is an international alliance of independent professional services firms including accounting firms, law firms, and other specialist services providers. In the community, Rebecca is a member of the board of directors of ComKids. ComKids works in partnership with school boards and other groups to deliver new laptops to youth in under-serviced communities.
