Rainer Nowak has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings and other corporate transactions. His areas of expertise include finance transactions and securities. He is knowledgeable in relation to all regulatory aspects of foreign investments into South Africa including black economic empowerment and exchange control, and has advised on compliance matters relating to the corporate regulatory environment. Rainer’s intercultural skills and his law degrees from Germany and South Africa have positioned him well to advise a number of prominent international corporates conducting business in South Africa and on the African continent within the chemical, renewable energy, defence, automotive, property, food production and leisure sectors. He has also advised banks, financers and borrowers, project companies, sponsors, contractors and component suppliers. He has special expertise in relation to power projects in the renewable energy sector including the project structuring, advising on EPC and BOP contracts and other project related agreements. He is also knowledgeable in relation to the Government of South Africa’s feed-in tariff programme. Prior to joining Webber Wentzel he spent a term working in the Frankfurt office of Clifford Chance.
