Ian Davis has over 25 years' experience in advising charities, housing associations and local authorities and has established himself as a trusted adviser on charity law, governance, corporate and regulatory issues. Specialising in charity and not for profit law and regulation Ian is often called upon to advise on the corporate aspects of their operations including the establishment of new organisations, mergers and restructures of organisations and groups including business reviews to ensure that they are fit for purpose. Ian also advises on governance and assurance arrangements, the implications of charitable status and regulatory requirements including the requirements of registration with and regulation by the Charity Commission and the Regulator of Social Housing. Ian frequently advises charities on their involvement in complex structures and real estate transactions alongside Trowers' real estate and taxation specialists. Ian is also a trusted adviser to the Regulator of Social Housing having advised on the rescue of Ujima and Cosmopolitan and upon aspects of the establishment of the housing administration regime. Ian leads the corporate and governance team and the charities group for Trowers and is himself ranked as a notable practitioner within social housing and charities. Ian is co-author of the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Handbook.
