Bio

Alex Burton is a partner in our Commercial Litigation team and the head of the firm's international dispute management practice. He is primarily based in London but divides his time between our London and Dubai offices. Alex has over twenty years of experience in advising and representing clients in connection with complex and high-value commercial disputes. He frequently advises on disputes of a multi-party and/or cross-border nature, in various industry sectors. Alex has particular experience of advising in connection with disputes between shareholders and matters involving financial services, aviation and professional liability. Alex represents clients in court and arbitration proceedings (under the rules of well know arbitral bodies such as the ICC and LCIA, as well as ad hoc rules) and also in alternative dispute resolution processes such as mediation. Alex has experience of managing disputes in a number of jurisdictions in the Middle East and the Commonwealth. Alex has particular experience of cases involving multiple parties. He advised the claimants in the complex and high profile disputes in the High Court arising from the collapse of both The Accident Group and CLE legal expense insurance schemes, both of which involved claims against substantial numbers of professional firms brought within single court actions. Alex is recommended in the 2015 edition of The Legal 500.
