David Forrester Bio

David’s practice focuses on corporate/commercial and securities law, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and corporate finance. He has acted for acquiring and target companies, boards of directors, family enterprises and controlling shareholders in both negotiated and contested transactions. David regularly advises companies, directors and shareholders on corporate governance, crisis management, compliance and other critical situations. He also has extensive experience acting for both issuers and investment banks in a variety of public offerings of debt and equity. David provides ongoing advice to public companies on their disclosure, corporate governance and other corporate and securities law obligations, as well as assistance in preparing and negotiating commercial contracts and board/governance and HR-related policies and plans. David advises key players in a wide variety of Canadian industries, including financials, information providers, retail, infrastructure, energy, manufacturing, mining and metals, and government and regulatory bodies. David has played a lead role in acting for a number of Canada’s largest companies on both key strategic transactions and day-to-day matters, including the Weston group of public companies (Loblaw, George Weston and Choice Properties), Brookfield, Thomson Reuters and Sun Life Financial.
