Claire Brown Bio

Claire Brown is a partner in Tonkon Torp’s Business Department where she serves as Co-Chair of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate Finance & Transactions practice groups. Claire works with businesses at all stages of growth on a broad range of legal issues, including matters relating to securities law, corporate finance, corporate governance, and contract negotiation. She has significant experience facilitating a variety of transactions for both buyers and sellers across industries, with a particular interest in consumer products companies. Claire has meaningful expertise working within Portland’s vibrant startup ecosystem, where she is a frequent speaker on fundraising options available to early-stage companies. She also works regularly with a variety of nonprofit organizations and recently completed a tenure as Chair of the firm’s Nonprofit & Tax-Exempt Entities Practice Group. Claire holds joint graduate degrees from Vanderbilt University Law School and the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University. A Portland native, she enjoys cooking, hiking, and spending time with her family.
