Bio

Arjunan Puveendran is a Partner in the firm's Corporate group in Sydney, working predominantly for the Hospitality, Leisure & Gaming sector providing broad legal services to this industry. Having worked across several practice areas including commercial advisory, M&A, liquor and gaming licensing, property and disputes, Arj's diverse experience enables him to assist both private and public companies in a broad range of matters, particularly in the hospitality and leisure sector. Arj undertakes extensive work advising registered clubs servicing the team’s extensive client portfolio including sporting, RSL and workers clubs. He assists in corporate governance, commercial contracting, development projects, company meetings, amalgamations and other acquisitions, and compliance with gaming, liquor and clubs licensing and regulation informed by a strong understanding of the industry and its commercial needs. His experience extends to advising various corporate clients in transactions including business acquisitions, negotiation of commercial agreements, hotel management agreements, joint ventures and capital raisings within the hospitality and ancillary industries including retail and manufacturing. Arj regularly speaks at industry conferences and seminars on legal issues affecting the hospitality sector including for industry associations such as ClubsNSW and the RSL & Services Clubs Association. In 2018, he was a finalist in the Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Awards. Arj is also widely involved in the arts sector, as a performer and leader having been named by the Australia Council as an Arts Leader (2020-2021); won the 2022 Sydney Theatre Award for Best Original Score; staged performances for the Sydney Festival, Sydney Sacred Music Festival and Castlemaine Festival; and served on the boards of grassroots organisations for propagating cultural music.
