Barry Weisz serves as a corporate strategist and outside general counsel to small- to mid-sized companies, as well as their principals, in a variety of industries. For more than four decades and across a variety of industries, Barry has advised businesses from well-established companies to entrepreneurial start-ups in their industries on day-to-day matters, growth strategies and beyond. He has assisted with financings, contractual agreements, litigation, succession planning and horizon events; and, he has drafted purchase and sale agreements, operating agreements, loan documents, license and distribution agreements and phantom equity plans, among many other corporate documents. In particular, Barry finds negotiating mergers and acquisitions especially rewarding. While deals are often complicated and challenging, Barry has guided so many to satisfactory closings that investment bankers and brokers are pleased to recommend and work with him. They know the deals will close. When necessary, Barry is able to readily assemble a team to ensure all the elements are covered: tax, intellectual property, employment and environmental matters among them. In addition, Barry has been active in real estate transactions throughout his career, including purchase and sales, leases, 1031 exchanges and financing. Active in his profession, Barry has taught business law at California State University, Northridge University and West Coast University. He has also served as judge pro tem in the Los Angeles Superior Court, the Beverly Hills Municipal Court and the Los Angeles Traffic Court. Advancing Thompson Coburn’s success, Barry has served as Partner in Charge of the firm’s Los Angeles office and on the firm’s Management and Strategic Planning Committees, among others.
