A trusted business advisor and former general counsel, Ryan Owens brings more than two decades of legal experience and perspective to his clients. As a partner in Taylor English’s Corporate and Business Group, Mr. Owens aligns legal services with business objectives, mitigating risks and identifying opportunities for clients in corporate and commercial transactions. His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and finance, intellectual property and employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) for clients in industries ranging from SaaS and other technologies to manufacturing and construction. As part of t|e General Counsel, Mr. Owens leverages his considerable in-house experience to provide tailored legal solutions to management teams, entrepreneurs and business owners who want a lawyer who can understand and contribute to their business objectives on an ongoing basis. Prior to joining Taylor English, Mr. Owens served as the chief legal officer of DS Services, a beverage manufacturer and retailer with annual revenues exceeding $1 billion, where he advised senior management and the board of directors on SEC reporting, compliance, corporate governance, commercial transactions, intellectual property, and litigation, among other matters. Additionally, Mr. Owens oversaw the company’s real estate function, negotiated more than 40 acquisitions, and collaborated with other senior managers to support risk management, human resources, internal audit and communications. Mr. Owens was an early stage investor and general counsel for Kredible Technologies, an Atlanta-based SaaS start-up, where he gained an appreciation for the pressures and challenges inherent in entrepreneurship and the value of practical legal services provided at a reasonable price. He began his career in the Los Angeles office of a New York-based international law firm, where he advised clients on transactions involving private equity, debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, technology development and licensing, and entertainment industry services and regulation for clients ranging from start-up to Fortune 500.
