Paulo Rage is a Partner of Tauil & Chequer Advogados in association with Mayer Brown in the Rio de Janeiro office and member of the Corporate and M&A; International Tax; and, Africa and Latin America practice groups. Paulo has LL.B./J.D., LL.M. and Ph.D. (cand.) degrees in Law and has significant practical experience in complex cross-border projects and M&As.. He has broad project development skills, since the planning and structuring phase (finance, tax, corporate, regulatory and labor planning) through implementation and divestment phases, mainly in the sectors of: energy (oil & gas, power and hydrogen); infrastructure (construction & engineering); mining; and, industrial (pharmaceutical and agroindustrial). He has a prominent practice with projects in emerging LATAM (Latin America) and MEA (Middle East and Africa) markets, especially Sub-Saharan and Lusophone Africa (Angola, Mozambique and STP). He advised several multinational companies in transactions through different jurisdictions, such as: Mozambique, Angola, South Africa, Malawi, Nigeria, Kenya, Botswana, STP, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, United States, United Kingdom, Portugal, Netherlands, Albania, UAE, China, India, among others. Paulo is qualified to practice law in Brazil and Portugal; and, is fluent in Portuguese, English, Spanish and French. He is also Director of the Brazil-Mozambique Chamber of Commerce – CCIABM (since 2008). His previous experience includes: Partner of renowned Law Firms; Lawyer and International Relations in reputed institutions (as Embassy of Brazil in Washington, USA and American Chamber of Commerce in Brazil - AMCHAM); and, Coordinator of several academic activities in International Economic Law and Law & Economics.
