Elijah Hammans is a corporate attorney who specializes in private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate matters. In addition, Elijah regularly works with private equity funds and sponsors in connection with the acquisition, sale and recapitalization of their portfolio companies. Elijah also works with entrepreneurs and other clients to identify potential middle-market private equity transaction opportunities. A strong rapport with clients and a detail-oriented approach to resolving legal matters are among the reasons why private equity firms and other investing professionals often seek Elijah’s advice on private equity, venture capital and acquisition finance issues. Prior to working at Taft, Elijah was a partner at McDermott Will & Emery in Chicago and an associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson in New York. Elijah received his J.D., magna cum laude, from New York Law School, and received his B.S., magna cum laude, from the University of Indianapolis. While in law school, Elijah served as an associate editor of the New York Law School Law Review and interned for the office of President William J. Clinton and the Honorable Louis B. York. Elijah is recognized by Best Lawyers in America® and Indiana Super Lawyers Rising Stars for corporate law. He serves on the board of Special Olympics Indiana.
