Bio

Arlene Maneja is a member of the firm’s Special Projects, Banking, Finance & Securities, and Corporate Services groups. She specializes in investments, public-private partnerships (PPPs), infrastructure, power, renewable energy and competition law. She has been involved in rendering regulatory advice and documenting high-value deals, including the Php74.1 billion acquisition by the Philippine Long Distance Company of Digital Telecommunications Philippines, Inc., the Php2.85 billion sale of pharmacy chain South Star Drug, Inc. and the Php450 Million equity investment of Century Pacific Group in real property developer Arthaland Corporation. She has also assisted leading Philippine conglomerates in bidding for PPP contracts in the transport and water industries, including the bidding and re-bidding of Php65B Manila LRT Line 1 Extension, Operations and Maintenance Project, the Php17.5B Mactan Cebu International Airport Expansion, Operations and Maintenance Project, the Php24.4B Bulacan Bulk Water Supply Project and the LRT Line 2 Operations and Maintenance Project. She is also active in the power and renewable energy sectors and her projects include the US$270 million project financing of KEPCO SPC Power Corporation’s 200 MW coal-fired power plant in Naga City, Cebu, the 20-year power sales agreement between Manila Electric Company and San Buenaventura Power Ltd. Co for the latter’s 455 MW coal power facility and evaluating potential investments in a wind farm located in Pililia and solar projects located in Negros Occidental. She also advises clients regarding competition laws and anti-trust matters and has represented the firm in the 4th ASEAN Competition Conference hosted by the Philippine Department of Justice. Apart from legal practice, she has acted as consultant to a number of firms in relation to industry studies, feasibility and business plans, marketing and branding strategy, as well as business model formulation in the telecommunications, outsourcing, retail and technology industries.
