Duncan Stiles Bio

Duncan Stiles is a hugely experienced senior corporate partner at Stephenson Harwood LLP who counsels a diverse international client base on strategic investments into the UK and on complex cross-border M&A across the world. His practice spans a variety of sectors including technology, energy transition, industrials, professional services and real estate. Duncan’s practice is particularly focussed on the United States. He leads Stephenson Harwood’s US Area of Focus and has overall responsibility for the firm’s relationships with US law firms and US strategy. He regularly acts for US corporates, including financial sponsor backed portfolio companies, on their European investments. Recent examples include deals for KKR backed Industrial Physics, Intercontinental Exchange, Kroll, Corporation Service Company, Scrub Daddy and Illuma Holdings. He also regularly “quarterbacks” advice for US law firms needing support across a variety of European jurisdictions. His reputation for delivering results on complex cross border transactions makes him a sought-after adviser for a range of international clients. He recently advised China’s Citic Europe Holdings on the sale of Invia Group (a leading online travel agency); counselled the Dutch Denkavit Group on its UK market entry acquisition of the Volac Milk Replacer business and led on Spanish Grupo Amper’s sale of Energy Computer Systems (advanced distribution management systems software) to QEI Automation Solutions. All Duncan’s international clients appreciate his ability to explain unfamiliar UK legal requirements and concepts in a commercially accessible and understandable way.
