John Hammill is a partner in our corporate team. Having acquired, sold, carried out fundraisings for, and advised owners and management of many North East manufacturing businesses, John also heads up our advanced manufacturing team. Whilst primarily advising on M&A work and corporate fundraisings, John is also adept at advising shareholders on governance arrangement, implementing corporate reorganisations and advising on general corporate law queries and commercial matters. Having previously worked in-house at One North East, the former Regional Development Agency for the North East, John also has a good understanding of how the public sector works and the requirements which will need to be met by a business seeking public sector funding. During the Covid-19 crisis John has quickly become an expert on the Government-backed Future Fund and has acted for various clients to secure substantial amounts of matched loan funding from the Government. John also regularly advises not-for-profit organisations and their trustees/directors on diverse matters, including their establishment and registration with regulators, the incorporation and use of trading subsidiaries, compliance with funding agreements, charity mergers and trustee duties. As part of his practice John has assisted many sports clubs with the process of registering or maintaining their registrations as Community Amateur Sports Clubs.
