Klaus Banke is a corporate and M&A partner in our Frankfurt office specializing in corporate law and transactions, notably national and cross-border M&A transactions. Klaus advises on private and public corporate acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, carve-outs, complex corporate restructurings as well as corporate governance matters. Klaus has also broad experience in dispute and arbitration matters, notably in the context of corporate and commercial transactions. Klaus has acted for a wide range of German and multinational corporations, including the EDF Group, Ipsos, Ipsen, Bundesdruckerei Group, Enel and McKinsey. He has specific industry expertise in the energy, life sciences and technology sector. Klaus has a long-standing affinity to cross-border French-German transactions. Fluent in English, French and Italian he generally advises clients across Europe. Klaus joined Simmons & Simmons as a partner in the Frankfurt office in February 2022. Prior to joining the firm, he worked in the Frankfurt and New York offices of two leading international law firms. Klaus studied law at the Universities of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Geneva, St. Gallen (HSG) and Stanford (J.S.M.). He was admitted as a German lawyer (Rechtsanwalt) in 1995 and as an attorney-at-law in the state of New York (New York, 1st Department) in 2005. Klaus has been named as a recommended corporate and M&A lawyer by JUVE, the leading publication on German law firms, throughout many years. He is also on the Best Lawyers list for Germany.
