Both public and private companies value his quick assessment of business transactions and their implications to clients as well as his detail-oriented and creative problem solving approach to issues arising in the course of such transactions. Peter focuses his practice on business representation and counseling with respect to mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and other general corporate matters, including stock and asset acquisitions, restructurings, joint ventures, financing transactions, franchising, and negotiation and drafting of complex commercial contracts. Peter has extensive experience representing both buyers and sellers in a wide range of transaction structures and values in a variety of industries. Peter is a member of the firm’s Finance Committee and former regional hiring partner and corporate department chair. Prior to his association with Shumaker, Peter practiced for seven years with the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. Before attending law school, Peter worked for more than five years in the audit and assurance services group of PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP in Chicago, where he performed financial statement audits for a diverse client base.
