Regina M. Spielberg co-chairs the Estate, Gift & Charitable Planning Practice Group. Certified as an Elder Law Attorney by the ABA Accredited National Elder Law Foundation (www.nelf.org), Ms. Spielberg assists seniors, people with disabilities, and their families in connection with a variety of legal issues including elder care, special needs planning and planning for incapacity, with an emphasis on promoting the best quality of life for the individuals. She was also invited to join the Council of Advanced Practitioners (CAP) of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), a group of highly experienced elder law and special needs planning attorneys. As an estate planner, she assists clients with the orderly and tax efficient transfer of assets during life and after death, including preparing estate planning documents. She is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Council (www.actec.org) and past chair of the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA)’s Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section. In addition, she is past president and current member of the Greater New Jersey Estate Planning Council and a member of the Estate Planning Council of Bergen County. Ms. Spielberg is a regular lecturer on elder and disability law and trust and estate law for both professional and client organizations. She has authored and/or co-authored many articles on these subjects, including “The Revival of the Income-Only Trust in Medicaid Planning” for Estate Planning; “Tax Implications of Caregiver Agreements,” published by Thomson Reuters’ Elder Law Advisory; and for New Jersey Lawyer Magazine, the following: “Matrimonial Settlements—A Public Benefits Conundrum,” “Trusts for the Benefit of Disabled Persons: Understanding the Differences Between Special Needs Trusts and Supplemental Benefits Trusts,” “Special Needs Settlement Planning: Preserving Public Benefits and Enhancing the Injured Party's Quality of Life,” and “The Powerful Power of Attorney.”
