Scott M. Tarbox joined Rumler Tarbox Lyden in 1991 and divides his practice into three major areas: business planning and consulting, real estate, and mergers and acquisitions. “Planning begins with choosing the most beneficial entity in which to operate a company (corporation, limited liability company, partnership or some other variation) and ends with the eventual sale or transfer of the business.” Between those two events, Scott assists his business clients and their owners with all facets of their business, from negotiating and drafting contracts to resolving shareholder disputes, to managing employee matters and to ensuring business continuity. Scott also spends a good deal of time in the real estate purchase and development areas, drafting and negotiating real estate contracts and leases. He often helps clients navigate through the many issues involved in real estate development such as construction contracts, easements, permits, and zoning. Scott enjoys the mergers and acquisition portion of his practice “because every purchase and sale transaction is a huge event for our clients. Owners are either leaving the businesses they have nurtured and built, or purchasing a business and stepping into a new realm of opportunity for themselves and for their families. Being involved in these transactions is incredibly satisfying.” Like the Rumler Tarbox Lyden’s other business attorneys, Scott has a background in accounting, tax and finance. With his Certified Public Accountant background, Scott communicates effectively with all of his client's business and other advisors.
