Al Gray is a Partner in the Labor and Employment Practice Group at Rubin and Rudman in Boston. Al is also a member of the Education group where he applies his labor and employment skills for the Massachusetts State Universities. For more than two decade, Al has represented employers in all facets of labor and employment law issues. Al represents clients before federal and state administrative agencies, including the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD), the Massachusetts Department of Labor Relations (DLR), the Massachusetts Division of Administrative Law Appeals (DALA), the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other agencies. Al also represents clients in union arbitrations and the collective bargaining process. Al also focuses his practice on human services and health care services. He counsels clients at a variety of human service agencies (including disability provider agencies, long term care facilities, special education facilities and others) regarding operational, administrative, investigative, regulatory, litigation, and training, among other matters. Al’s practice involves assisting children and adults with special needs and disabilities. He advises on the availability of state services and on meeting eligibility requirements for special education, housing and other services. Al also provides training and speaks on variety of topics, including various labor and employment topics, union avoidance, abuse-related issues, advanced directives and other labor-related topics. Prior to entering private practice Al provided seventeen years of public service to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He served as the Deputy General Counsel for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation (now known as the Department of Developmental Disabilities) and served as legal counsel for the MCAD.
