Theresa E. Pruett’s 18 year legal career brings her clients a unique blend of legal experience in civil litigation, employment law and corporate law. Theresa now focuses her practice on labor and employment law covering a wide range of legal disputes that arise between employees and employers, including employment discrimination and retaliation, wage and hour, employee IP disputes, whistleblower cases, unfair competition, defamation, trade secret, non competition and severance/separation agreements. As a litigator, Theresa is results-driven and focuses on cost-effective but meticulous civil discovery, motion practice, and trial work. Theresa has obtained numerous jury verdicts and judgments on behalf of her clients. In a recent case, Theresa prosecuted a David v. Goliath case against Amazon.com, and successfully secured the employee's patent from the Internet giant, and Amazon.com agreed to waive enforcement of an 18-month non-competition agreement. During this time of high unemployment and transition for many employees, Theresa has developed a particular expertise in negotiating favorable separation agreements and terms for non-compete agreements. She drives a hard bargain for her clients and has been retained to negotiate such agreements on behalf of employees and former employees with such local companies as the Microsoft Corporation, Weyerhaeuser Corporation, Providence Health and Services and First Data Corporation. Theresa began her career with the prestigious Seattle law firm of Perkins Coie LLP, representing manufacturing companies in product liability, multi-district catastrophic tort, insurance, and employment litigation. Ultimately, she became Vice President and General Counsel for a large transportation company and further specialized in transportation law, corporate transactions, corporate governance, and litigation management.
