Nicholas Hoy Bio

Nick Hoy is a partner in Quinn Emanuel’s New York office. While Nick has acted for defendants and plaintiffs in a variety of complex commercial disputes, a particular focus of his practice is representing private equity and other investment firms and their affiliates in significant M&A, corporate governance, bankruptcy, and other deal-related matters. He was recognized in 2023 and 2024 by Lawdragon 500 for his work in financial litigation. Nick is an experienced trial lawyer with a track record of trying and winning his clients’ highest-stake cases. He has acted as trial counsel in numerous trials and arbitrations on subjects as varied as the valuation of derivative securities, ownership of software source code, and fraud and breach of fiduciary duty claims arising out of a leveraged buyout. He has successfully defended against billions of dollars of claims and obtained multibillion recoveries as counsel for the plaintiff. Nick routinely litigates in the New York and Delaware courts and has tried cases before many of the leading arbitral tribunals, including AAA, ICC, JAMS, and CPR. Nick also has an active appellate practice, and has played a principal role in briefing successful appeals in federal and state courts. Nick is a graduate of Stanford University and Yale Law School, where he was an editor of the Yale Law Journal.
