Jeffrey Johnson is a member of Pryor Cashman’s Intellectual Property and Corporate Groups, and is chair of the firm’s Cannabis, Life Sciences, and Technology Groups. Known for helping corporations assess, protect and optimize the value of their intellectual property assets, Jeffrey advises on patent, trade secret, trademark, and copyright issues. He represents clients in complex transactions and guides the litigation of disputes when they arise. Working with small- to mid-cap companies and startups in the telecommunications, software, cannabis, entertainment, biotech, and pharmaceutical industries, Jeffrey handles IP-driven and cannabis-focused transactions, including M+A, joint ventures, strategic alliances, co-development and marketing arrangements, private placements, and licenses, to name a few. As head of the firm’s cannabis practice, Jeffrey oversees the licensure of cannabis businesses and works with the firm’s capital markets group to list cannabis-related businesses in the United States. Jeffrey routinely advises university professors and other academicians seeking to commercialize their inventions, including a Nobel laureate, a MacArthur Fellow, and an applied physicist whose images of the sun have been featured on U.S. postage stamps.
