Bio

Miriam Galandova obtained an LL.M. degree from the University of London in International Arbitration and Commercial Law, a Doctorate (JUDr.) from the Faculty of Law of Comenius University in Bratislava and a Master’s degree (Ing.) from the Faculty of Commerce of the University of Economics in Bratislava. She worked for eight years at White & Case in Bratislava, where she was named a partner in 2009. Qualification in both economic and legal field allows her to provide top legal services in assignments requiring complex legal and economic analyses. By working for local and international corporate clients, Miriam gained particular experience in the areas of tax, corporate law and dispute resolution, including clients´ representation litigation and arbitration. Miriam is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and is regularly acting as counsel or arbitrator in arbitrations under ICC Rules, VIAC Rules, UNCITRAL rules, rules of the Arbitration Court of Slovak Bar Association and the Arbitration Court attached to the Czech Chamber of Commerce and the Agricultural Chamber. Miriam is consistently listed in international directories of law firms and lawyers, like Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, Best Lawyers and recently was selected by GAR’s independent research for recognition in the Future Leaders section of Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration 2023. Miriam is the President of the Slovak Chamber of Tax Advisors, where she is also a member of the Methodical Legislative Committee for Corporate Income Tax and the Methodical Legislative Committee for Tax Administration. She was a member of the recodification committee responsible for preparing the new Slovak Civil Code. Miriam is a member of the Committee for Civil Law at the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovakia. She is an attorney at law admitted to the Slovak Bar Association and a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA). She is fluent in Slovak and English.
