Natalia Escobar Bio

Natalia Escobar has been a partner in the Financial Law and Capital Markets department of Posse Herrera Ruiz since 2022. She has more than 15 years of experience in local and international financial regulation matters, as well as in credit and capital market operations. Natalia advises financial institutions and local and foreign securities issuers on regulatory matters related to banking businesses, investment management, pensions, insurance, securities and fintech. She also represents supervised and non-supervised entities in various matters, before the Financial Superintendency and other authorities. Her practice includes advising innovative ventures and projects, particularly in activities related to the financial system, with high social impact or focused on sustainability. Before joining PHR, Natalia worked at the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) in Basel, Switzerland. There she accompanied regulators and supervisors from Emerging Markets and Developing Economies in the implementation of basic insurance principles from the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS). She also coordinated the launch of the IAIS Global Fintech and Financial Inclusion Forums. Natalia served in the Financial Superintendency as Legal Advisor to the Deputy Superintendent for Institutional Supervision and as Delegate Superintendent for Insurance. In this last position, he directed the risk-based supervision of the insurance industry in Colombia, as well as the authorizations of new (re)insurers, new insurance products and lines, various mergers and acquisitions that involved local (re)insurers and brokers. and foreigners, among others. Likewise, she represented the entity in international forums such as the IAIS, ASSAL (Latin American Association of Insurance Supervisors) and the OECD. Natalia began her career as an Associate in the Financial Law and Capital Markets department of PHR, to which she belonged for more than six years. Her practice focused on regulatory matters and advising financial institutions and corporations in connection with various credit and capital market transactions.
