Bio

Ernesto Cavelier is a partner at Posse Herrera Ruiz. He works in corporate law and technology and media with an emphasis on information law and digital law. He is co-head of the intellectual property department and specializes in intellectual property licensing processes and aspects of intellectual property in relation to business law. In the area of ​​digital law, he advises national and international companies in the launch of products, in the drafting of terms and conditions of mobile applications or platforms, as well as in the provision of cloud services, the use of software as a service – SaaS Drafting or reviewing contracts, e-commerce, and other similar matters. On the other hand, he advises clients on technology licenses, software development agreements and licenses, copyright in the digital environment, and alliances between companies, mergers and acquisitions, and other commercial operations. Ernesto has been active as a lecturer and university professor; Last year he gave a presentation at the Colombo Chamber of Commerce on Legal Aspects of Blockchain; In 2017, he participated in a conference organized by CENTI on the principle of net neutrality and the free competition regime. He also participated as moderator in a panel on the same topic at the 5th. Conference of the IBA Technology Committee in Sao Paulo in April 2017. In November 2016, he participated as a lecturer in a course on spin offs for universities and entities in charge of WIPO in Bogotá. A request from this same international organization, he has given as a lecturer in their well-known course on technology transfer in San José, Costa Rica, and in Santiago, Chile; Over the past few years, his course on technology transfer contracts has been taught several times at the Universidad del Rosario, at the Sergio Arboleda University in Bogotá, and at the Alexander von Humboldt University in Armenia. More recently, in 2017 and 2018 he taught two courses at the Universidad del Rosario, the first on the technique of drafting contracts and the second on Consumer Law. On August 29, 2018, after several years as an academic, he was awarded as an academic of the Academy of Jurisprudence with the dissertation on Regulation of the collaborative economy.
