Marco Meijer has been a lawyer since 1986 and joined Penrose as a partner on 1 April 2022. In the past, he was partner at (the legal predecessor of) CMS for over 21 years and subsequently worked as a lawyer at two medium-sized law firms in Amsterdam for 8 and 5,5 years respectively. Marco Meijer specialises in employment law (in the broadest sense of the word) and corporate law. With regard to employment law, Marco Meijer focuses a considerable part of his time on corporate employment law for higher management, assisting the manager, director or administrator. Yet, he also advises companies in employment-law issues, not only with regard to collective and individual lay-offs, but also, for example, with advice on employment contracts, the transfer of a company and the position of the works council. Additionally, Marco Meijer is permanent advisor for several larger clients on commercial corporate-law issues. He has performed as external general counsel and legal sparring partner for these clients often for many years. In addition to employment and corporate-law issues, he also assists these clients with setting up commercial contracts and, where necessary, commercial legal disputes and legal proceedings. With his many years of experience, Marco Meijer is highly appreciated by his clients for his strategic approach, in which he determines, in close consultation with the client, the most practical and cost-efficient way to solve a problem. Thanks to his excellent interpersonal skills, Marco Meijer is able to ‘build bridges’. On the other hand, he has a healthy fighting spirit and does not hesitate to operate at the cutting edge where necessary.
