He graduated from the Law Faculty of Charles University (1998). In 1998-2005, he worked in the Prague office of the international law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges, first as a junior lawyer, and, on passing his bar exams with honors (in 2002), as a senior attorney at law. In his practice, he specialises on a long term basis in company law, civil and family law and litigation including criminal cases. Tomáš Pelikán came as the second based on an expert jury vote in the competition Lawyer of the Year 2005 of the epravo.cz company in the field of real estate. In the field of company law, Tomáš Pelikán provided legal advice on a number of large mergers and acquisitions, including the privatization of large enterprises, purchase of companies from bankruptcy assets, company restructuring and other options of dealing with bankruptcy. Tomas Pelikán is a leading specialist in litigation, representing both large corporations and individuals before the court in civil, criminal (primarily white collar crimes) and administrative proceedings against public authority decisions. He also has vast experience with execution and insolvency proceedings. As the legal counsel, he engaged in numerous transactions in law of finance, including transactions involving the issue of bonds, public offers of foreign funds securities, takeover bids and other securities transactions. When providing legal services to leading banks, insurance companies, brokerage firms and insurance agents, he drew on his long experience in syndicated financing, insurance, industrial plants and other bank transactions and insurance instruments. Tomas Pelikan is also the leader of the team focused on family law and provides legal services in matters of marriage, divorce, settlement of relationships to minors (alimony, care and contact with children disputes), settlement of marital property, preparation of marital and premarital agreements and related matters, on which he is a recognized expert. Moreover, Tomáš Pelikán deals with housing law and real estate law. In this practice, among other things, he profits from his experience of active involvement in the board of directors of a housing cooperative, which he chaired for 12 years. Mgr. Pelikán also specialises on long-term basis in consumer protection law, on which he focuses in its extensive publications, and participates in expert meetings and international conferences. Tomas Pelikán is fluent in Czech and English.
