Bio

Susan G. Berman is a partner in the Estate Planning and Tax Practice Groups, focusing her practice on wealth transfer tax reduction through gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning. This includes directly advising clients and their advisors on various strategies - taking into account tax, business and personal goals - and the drafting of sophisticated estate planning documents to implement them. Susan's practice also includes advising individuals and business owners with respect to asset protection planning, the representation of decedent's and guardianship estates, trust administration, and gift and estate tax return preparation. Susan has significant experience counseling and advising beneficiaries and fiduciaries in disputed trust and estate matters. Susan is a graduate of Emory University's Goizueta Business School where she majored in finance and Spanish (B.B.A., with high distinction, 2003) and Loyola University Chicago School of Law where she received a certificate in tax law (J.D., cum laude, 2006). Susan is admitted to practice in Illinois (2006) and is a member of the Chicago Estate Planning Counsel, JUF Professional Advisory Committee and Chicago Bar Association. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Educate Bwindi. Prior to joining PFS, Susan was with Reed Smith LLP and Shefsky & Froelich Ltd. (now, Taft Stettnius & Hollister LLP).
