Prior to joining Parsons Behle & Latimer, Mr. Mangum was an executive with American Stores Company, a Fortune 400 company, where he was primarily responsible for its mergers and acquisitions activities, including transactions with values in the hundreds of millions of dollars. As legal counsel to the company's treasury department, Mr. Mangum was also involved in negotiating and documenting complex financing arrangements. Mr. Mangum has enjoyed a varied practice. He led the successful conclusion of 13 years of litigation on behalf of his client against the Islamic Republic of Iran, arising out of Iran's seizure of the client’s Iranian subsidiary following the Ayatollah Khomeini's rise to power. He also achieved a highly favorable outcome for a corporate director charged with murder in connection with the death of an employee in a work place setting due to allegedly unsafe working conditions. The case was featured on CBS News’ "Sixty Minutes." Mr. Mangum also obtained a favorable result for a senior executive of a major international company in connection with a Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigation by the Department of Justice and the Securities Exchange Commission.
