Bjorn Hurten Bio

Bjorn Hurten is Co-Head of the German and the International Corporate Group of Osborne Clarke and advises on all aspects of M&A transactions both on buy-side or sell-side, joint ventures, mergers, carve-outs or restructurings. Additionally, his corporate practice includes advising corporate boards and bodies as well as shareholders and assisting in post-merger disputes and shareholder conflicts. Client’s value Björn’s transactional experience, technical excellence and his ability to synchronize various work streams whilst managing complex projects alongside with his team. His clients benefit from his deep sector knowledge, particularly in tech, media, and comms, real estate, infrastructure and within the automotive and transport industry. Björn has studied in Cologne, Munich, and Cape Town. He spent time in London for his doctoral thesis and in Los Angeles and New York during his legal traineeship. He has worked for international and domestic law firms in Cologne, Düsseldorf, and Frankfurt in corporate/M&A. Furthermore, he completed a one-year secondment in an Australian law firm in Sydney and a half-year in-house secondment in the legal department of an international industrial group in Bonn. Before joining Osborne Clarke in 2011 Björn also worked in the legal department of a German DAX-listed group in the automotive industry. He is co-author of the Munich handbook for lawyers on the Law of Limited Liability Companies (Münchener Anwaltshandbuch GmbH-Recht). Björn is lecturer at the WHU (Otto Beisheim School of Management), a private business school for general management, with his seminars covering topics of corporate law and M&A. WirtschaftsWoche recommended Björn as Top Lawyer for Corporate in 2020, 2023 und 2024 as well as Top Lawyer for M&A in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. Additionally, Björn was listed as one of Germany's best lawyers for M&A and Corporate law in the Best Lawyers Ranking in 2022, 2023 and 2024. Juve mentioned Björn as often recommended lawyer for M&A.
