Gil Brandes is among the most seasoned lawyers for growth companies in Israel. Over a career spanning three decades, Gil has taken part in assisting clients' growth from a mere concept to either becoming large-scale public companies or in eventual exit transactions. Gil is also well-qualified to advise high-tech companies (including those from the life sciences field) in various aspects of their day-to-day business. In addition, Mr. Brandes has extensive experience advising clients in complex litigation matters. Among his notable clients at their early stages are companies such as LanOptics (later renamed as EZChip which has been sold to Mellanox Technologies) and Imperva. Gil provided advice from inception to acquisition to companies such as Provigent (sold to Broadcom for US$335 million) and rendered advice to Whale Communications in its US$75 million sale to Microsoft Corporation, and to Goldman Sachs in its advisory role in the US$537 million sale of Precise to Veritas Software. Gil assisted Canadian company Blackberry in its acquisition of WatchDox (purchase price undisclosed), Sansa Security in its US$75 million sale to British giant ARM, and Swiss conglomerate SICPA in its acquisition of certain assets from Canadian Eurocontrol. Mr. Brandes has been noted by both Chambers and The Legal 500 as a leading lawyer in the hi-tech practice of the firm "which is recommended for its valuable service and knowledgeable lawyers". Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Brandes completed his internship with the Tel-Aviv law firm of Yigal Arnon & Co. and worked in the New York offices of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. In addition to his legal work, Mr. Brandes is an avid and experienced collector of contemporary art and the founder of Art Partners, an investment firm in the field of post-war and contemporary art. Furthermore, he is the author of the Israeli chapter of the "Art Collecting Legal Handbook" published by Thomson Reuters (2013). Mr. Brandes also co-chairs the "Here and Now Acquisition Group" supporting the Israel Museum's Israeli art collection. He is a member of the Bezalel Academy's Board of Trustees, as well as a board member of 8200 EISP, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Support Program, a program initiated by the firm together with several additional partners.
