Scott Douglas Burke Bio

Scott is a partner in the Boston office of Morrison Mahoney LLP. He has over 35 years of broad trial experience, largely defending malpractice claims, catastrophic personal injury suits and varied commercial disputes. In the malpractice area, Scott concentrates in the defense of non‑medical professionals including those practicing in the fields of law, insurance, accounting, real estate, construction, securities and finance as well as directors and officers, against claims of malpractice and improper employment practices before state and federal trial and appellate courts as well as administrative agencies. Having managed a national errors and omissions (E&O) program for agents of a life insurer, Scott has a keen awareness of the clients’ needs when it comes to purchasing legal services. Along with his litigation work, Scott provides counseling and risk management services to professional clients on ethical issues and risk avoidance. He is a frequent presenter of seminars on issues related to legal ethics and risk management for attorneys. He serves on the Massachusetts Bar Association Committee on Professional Ethics. For eight years, Scott served as the managing partner of Morrison Mahoney, overseeing operations across its ten Northeast offices. During his tenure, he expanded the firm from 157 to nearly 190 attorneys, increased revenue by 30%, and led the firm through the challenges of the COVID pandemic. Scott joined Morrison Mahoney in 1990, became a partner in 1995, and continues to play a key role on the firm’s five-member executive committee. Scott is a former New York City prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney’s office under Robert M. Morgenthau.
