Kristopher (Kris) Kirkwood is a partner in the Washington, DC office of Mintz where he has a broad transactional practice focusing on the development, financing, acquisition, and sale of energy and infrastructure projects. Kris regularly represents sponsors, strategic investors, financial investors (PE and Infra Funds), lenders, and other parties in the development and financing of projects, and in the acquisition and sale of projects and project portfolios, platform investments, and other major M&A transactions. His finance experience includes project finance and other debt, as well as equity and tax equity investments. He advises clients on all aspects of project development, including joint venture arrangements, equipment supply agreements, feedstock arrangements, offtake agreements (including power purchase agreements), operations and maintenance (O&M) agreements, and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contracts. Kris’ experience across energy and infrastructure sectors includes solar, wind, thermal, energy storage, batteries, EV infrastructure, biomass, waste-to-energy, biofuels, satellites, fiber-optic infrastructure, roads, and bridges. His experience extends across US, Canada, Latin America & Asia. He regularly represents sponsors and financial investors in the development and financing of data center projects, including land acquisition, joint venture arrangements, equipment procurement, construction, and power supply arrangements. Kris’ M&A experience includes leading major de-SPAC transactions involving critical minerals and carbon capture & sequestration companies.
