Bio

Samuel Davenport is a trial lawyer who specializes in litigation related to the development and commercialization of life sciences products, as well as litigation involving clean technology, IT, wastewater, solid waste, and real estate companies. Advising senior executives and boards about how their companies can avoid litigation is another significant part of Sam’s practice. A trial lawyer in the firm’s Boston office, Sam has extensive experience representing a wide variety of clients in complex business litigation before courts and arbitration panels across the country. In particular, Sam specializes in representing life sciences companies in litigation over licensing, royalties, research, development, and commercialization, and counseling their senior executives and boards about how to pursue development/commercialization strategies in ways that will preserve their company’s rights and minimize the risk of litigation. Sam also regularly represents companies in the clean technology, IT, real estate, and waste industries in disputes over strategic alliances, joint ventures, profit sharing agreements, patents, licensing agreements, financings, and vendor agreements. Sam is an active member of the firm’s Life Sciences Working Group and Alternative Dispute Resolution Working Group. In 2002, while on leave from the firm, Sam served as a special assistant district attorney in the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted over 100 criminal matters and tried more than a dozen cases. While in law school, Sam served as a legal intern for the Honorable William G. Young of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
