Emily Higgs is a member of Miles & Stockbridge's Corporate and Securities Practice Group, where she represents clients in a wide variety of industries, including manufacturing, construction, technology and aerospace, at all stages of the business lifecycle. Emily’s practice focuses on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions for public and private companies, private equity transactions, corporate governance and general corporate and securities matters. Her experience includes advising domestic and foreign companies regarding compliance with export control and other various matters involving international trade laws, as well as counseling government contractors on a variety of government contracting issues and on mergers and acquisitions. Emily also serves in the role of outside general corporate counsel and as local Maryland counsel. While a student at the University of Virginia School of Law, Emily was a member of the Articles Review Board of the Virginia Environmental Law Journal and a board member of the John Bassett Moore Society of International Law. Prior to going to law school, Emily worked as a Program Coordinator for the Center for Civic Education in Washington, DC, as well as a Researcher for an international trade association. Emily is a cum laude graduate from the College of William & Mary, where she earned a B.A. in International Relations, with a minor in French. Emily studied abroad at Hertford College, Oxford University in England and at Lebanese American University in Beirut, Lebanon.
