Bio

With deep roots in Louisiana, Sam Bacot focuses his practice on representing clients with real estate interests, handling matters in the areas of commercial and industrial real estate, multi-family leasing, related land use and zoning law, corporate, and business law. Sam has special experience in large property assemblages, resubdivision, and site plan approvals of all sizes. His clients cover a wide range of industries including gaming, race tracks, petrochemical, residential subdivision development, shipping, commercial retail, and office real estate. In Louisiana, attorneys are title insurance agents. As a licensed Louisiana title insurance agent for all major title insurance companies, Sam offers clients a wealth of experience by issuing policies to owners, lenders, purchasers, and lessees of Louisiana property. For the years 2017–2018, for example, he issued over $790,000,000 in title policies. Sam and his team are able to take any real estate project from conception to reality. He moves his clients’ deals across the finish line, making sure all the knots are untied and all potential problems have been identified and unraveled. He particularly enjoys the challenge of shepherding and closing highly complex transactions. Because Louisiana has a unique set of property laws, outside law firms and title insurance companies frequently call upon Sam to guide transactions for out-of-state companies in the state’s real estate market. Sam has served as an instructor on real estate and contract law and has taught at more than 40 seminars statewide. Additionally, he has taught business law at Louisiana State University and was a certified instructor for the Louisiana Real Estate Licensing Board.
