Lindsey Roskopf advises clients on export controls, economic and trade sanctions, antiboycott laws, and customs and import laws. She has worked with clients in the oil and gas, hydrographic survey, medical device, chemicals, aerospace, defense, electronics, manufacturing, and not-for-profit sectors. Lindsey regularly assists clients with identifying export licensing requirements; developing export licensing strategies; reviewing technology transfer controls; determining the export jurisdiction and classification of equipment and technology; and responding to government inquiries. She has extensive experience in advising clients on compliance with U.S. sanctions, particularly with respect to Russia, Iran, Cuba, and Venezuela. Lindsey also has considerable experience in conducting internal investigations and making voluntary disclosures to the Commerce, State, and Treasury Departments. Lindsey also helps clients navigate the complexity of U.S. customs laws, and she regularly advises importers on a range of customs matters including tariff classification, tariff mitigation strategies, country of origin determinations, NAFTA origin verifications, merchandise valuation, and the application of AD/CVD duties. She also assists clients with responses to CBP inquiries, seizure notices, and penalty notices, and she advises clients on filing prior disclosures. Lindsey routinely helps companies with proactive compliance matters, such as developing or enhancing compliance policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and providing training. Lindsey earned her J.D. in 2013 from the University of Houston Law Center, where she served as a notes and comments editor for the Houston Journal of International Law. She was also a judicial intern at the Texas Court of Appeals Fourteenth District and at the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. Prior to attending law school, Lindsey worked in the audit group at a national accounting firm and earned her license as a Certified Public Accountant.
