As Managing Director, John Weir is committed to McCarter Grespan’s vision of building and promoting the Firm’s reputation as a premier business law firm. It is evident that John enjoys practicing law and, in particular, the client relations that he has fostered over the years. Throughout John’s 30-plus year legal career, he has prided himself on assisting clients with their most challenging and complex business and legal issues. As a business owner, John understands the financial and sometimes emotional impact of the challenges that businesses and individuals face. He has gained a reputation for standing by his clients throughout their most difficult circumstances, providing strong advocacy and practical solution-based advice. John works primarily with entrepreneurial clients spanning Southern Ontario. His practice predominantly focuses on sophisticated real estate and commercial business transactions with an emphasis on limited partnerships; joint venture agreements; asset and corporate share purchases and sales; large scale financings and all aspects of Real property development. His goal is to ensure his clients understand the proper means to navigate different forms of business structures, complex agreements, contracts and other risk-reward opportunities so they can have confidence they are on the right track to achieve the success they envision. Given the nature of John’s practice and, as an integral part of business law, John further navigates his clients through succession and estate planning for individuals and businesses. For 15 years, John has been the Firm’s Managing Director, as McCarter Grespan continues to grow into one of Waterloo Region’s largest group of business and real estate legal professionals.
