Jiyoung Bae Bio

Ms. Jiyoung Bae is a Partner at Matouk Bassiouny and a member of the Corporate and M&A practice group, she also heads the firm’s Korea desk. She recently joined the firm in 2023, bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and expertise, specifically in the MENA region. She has represented multinational companies in different countries across multiple industries including construction, energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, banking & financing, trading, pharmaceutical, IT, and E-commerce. She served as the first president of the Islamic Law Society of the Judicial Research and Training Institute, and the first president of the Korea Islamic Law Association. From 2014 to 2016, she was seconded at Pinsent Masons LLP Dubai Office, a global UK law firm that specializes in international construction. She was in Teheran from January 2017 to June 2019 and provided legal advice on Iranian business for clients. She is representing and advising clients in cases involving UAE, Iran, Turkey, and the Middle East and African regions. Jiyoung’s practice focuses on representing and advising clients on foreign matters, outbound investment, corporate, mergers &, acquisitions, bankruptcy & corporate restructuring, anti-money laundering, global sanctions, construction, energy & infrastructure, healthcare & life sciences, intellectual property, emerging companies, and E-Commerce.
