Dr. Mohamed Al Degwy is a partner at Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy and head of competition practice. He has over eight years of practice experience in Egypt with vast expertise in the areas of contentious and non-contentious competition law, consumer protection, data privacy and IT related regulations, real estate, Fintech, corporate governance, and general corporate. Dr. Aldegwy has also participated in several landmark M&A transactions in the Egyptian market. Dr. Mohamed’s practice focuses on competition law matters, including conducting anti-trust due diligence in the context of M&A transactions, identifying and assessing the materiality of anti-trust risks and estimating relevant financial exposure and suggesting mitigating mechanisms in the context of M&A transactions, conducting an anti-trust review of the transaction documentation. Dr. Aldegwy also assists with reviewing the market practices and contractual arrangements of our clients to ensure their compliance with the Competition Law, advising our clients on their anti-trust queries, representing our clients in anti-trust investigations conducted by the Egyptian Competition Authority and negotiating settlements, conducting competition law compliance training for the top management of our clients, and assessing the notifiability of the transactions to the COMESA Competition Commission and the Egyptian Competition Authority and assisting with such filings.
