Scott Schwartz Bio

Scott Schwartz leads the Firm’s Mergers and Acquisitions, Capital Markets, Private Equity and Finance practice and is the leader of the Firm's Washington, D.C. office. His practice focuses on corporate and financial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, public and private offerings of equity and debt, securities regulation, venture capital finance, joint ventures, licensing, contract negotiation and other general corporate representation. Scott represents investors and companies across a variety of industries, including digital media, health care, insurance, software development, biotechnology, manufacturing, entertainment and consumer products. Scott has particular experience leading clients in international transactions. Additionally, he advises public and private boards of directors on corporate governance matters and corporate structuring. Scott is also co-chair of the Firm’s associate leadership committee. Scott has been recognized as a Leading Partner in The Legal 500 U.S. and has been described by a client as “the go-to M&A expert” and at “the top of his game.” Scott has also been recognized as an Emerging Leader by M&A Advisor, which honors professionals who have reached a significant level of success and made a notable contribution to their industry and community. His practice is a part of the firm’s nationally ranked M&A team, as featured in The Legal 500 U.S. every year since 2021. Scott is an Adjunct Associate Professor at American University–Washington College of Law where he teaches Mergers and Acquisitions to third year law students.
