Steven Pickens is a founding partner of Mahaffey Pickens Tucker, LLP and leads the firm's litigation group. Mr. Pickens is a trial lawyer whose specialty is trying cases to a jury. He has tried cases all over Georgia and is often associated by other attorneys to help them try their cases. He has litigated over sixty-five civil jury trials to a verdict. During the course of his 30-year career, Mr. Pickens has applied his trial skills wherever his clients need them. He is just as comfortable litigating a medical negligence case as he is a case involving wrongful death, property tax, contract law, or even eminent domain. Mr. Pickens has won multiple seven and eight figure verdicts, most recently winning a $30,000,000 verdict - which was the second highest medical malpractice verdict in Georgia History. He has had multiple other verdicts recognized in TopVerdict's publication “Top 50 Verdicts in the United States.” He is a longtime Champions member of the Georgia Trial Lawyer's Association and a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America - an invitation only honorary society for the best trial lawyers in America. For over twenty years, Mr. Pickens has maintained the coveted “AV Preeminent – 5.0 out of 5.0” rating on Martindale-Hubbell, the leading national lawyer rating agency. Mr. Pickens is a lifelong Georgia resident and a product of the Chatham County public school system. After graduating with honors from Mercer University in Macon, GA, he earned his law degree with honors from the University of Georgia School of Law.
