Stuart advises corporates, private equity funds and banks on corporate transactions on a broad range of technology deals across Europe, Asia and Africa, including M&A deals, joint ventures and fund structures. He is co-head of the firm’s tech sector group. Stuart has specialist knowledge of AI, fintech, insurtech and energytech sectors. He often works in close collaboration with the firm’s technology and energy lawyers, complementing their technical and sector knowledge with his associated corporate transactional experience. At different times of his career, Stuart spent two years as in-house counsel with BAE Systems which included working on the negotiation of their IT services arrangements with CSC. He moved to become a senior consultant for the technology and outsourcing consultancy, Grosvenor, where he negotiated and advised on the management of IT outsourcing agreements for financial services businesses. Stuart also spent 18 months as a partner of a technology-focussed private equity firm, Leapfrog Investments, to assist with their fund raising and lead the negotiations on all of their investments during that period, including investments in BIMA, WorldRemit and Cignifi. Stuart was based in the firm’s Singapore office between 2009 and 2014 and was Asia head of corporate from 2011 to 2014. On his return from Singapore, Stuart took over as head of the corporate division in London.
