Jason Romick is a partner in the Corporate Group. He concentrates his practice on mergers and acquisitions and other strategic transactions, with a particular focus on the insurance brokerage industry. In addition, he has extensive experience representing middle market asset managers, finance companies and institutional investors in structuring, negotiating and documenting opportunistic private equity co-investments. Jason is recognized as one of the leading insurance brokerage M&A attorneys in the country, having completed almost 400 transactions during his career. Because of his depth of experience and intimate knowledge of the insurance brokerage industry, he has built critical processes, efficiencies, methodologies and staffing structures that facilitate an acquisitive growth strategy for clients. The volume of transactions he has completed, as well his experience advising both buyers and sellers, uniquely position him to see the big picture. By focusing on the key components of a transaction and his client’s objectives, he closes deals efficiently and in line with his clients’ overall business objectives. Prior to re-joining Levenfeld Pearlstein, Jason practiced at Mayer Brown and held various high-level in-house counsel positions at Hub International Limited, the sixth largest insurance broker in the world, for 12 years. Most recently as Vice President, Chief M&A Counsel and Deputy General Counsel, Jason led a legal team responsible for completing an industry-leading number of strategic transactions in the United States, Canada, Latin America and South America, totaling more than $1.5 billion in acquired revenue. He was a key team member in completing Hub’s $1.9 billion management buyout and $4.4 billion recapitalization. During his tenure with Hub, Jason also managed a diverse set of other matters, including labor and employment for a 10,000 person multi-jurisdictional organization, corporate governance and compliance. Jason received his JD, summa cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law and his BSBA, with honors, from the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis. Upon graduating from law school, Jason spent a year as a law clerk to the Honorable Milton I. Shadur of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
