Alain Heyne is a partner at Lavery and a member of the firm’s Business Law group. He focuses his practice on commercial law, bank financing, commercial litigation and bankruptcy and insolvency. He also has expertise in professional liability and product liability. As part of his multidisciplinary practice, Alain advises and represents a wide range of clients including financial institutions, companies, manufacturers, contractors and subcontractors based in Canada, the United States and Europe. Alain is a trusted legal partner and business advisor involved in corporate organization and reorganization, and his clients entrust him with their most important transactions, including acquisitions, sales and mergers. He is also called upon to advise and represent his clients on various aspects of their business activities and operations, including setting up various financing structures, establishing partnerships or strategic alliances and drafting various contracts. Recognized by his clients for his strong business acumen, sense of practicality, availability and remarkable ability to communicate in layman’s terms, Alain is able to offer them strategic and legal advice that is always adapted to their business situation. He puts his ability to simplify complex legal concepts to good use in teaching, having taught securities law, corporate law and civil procedure at the Faculty of Law of the Université de Sherbrooke, and courses on prior claims, hypothecs and registration of rights at the École du Barreau du Québec. He has also taught in the Financial Planning Certificate program at the Université du Québec à Montréal.
