Bio

Charles Segal is the chair of the firm’s construction law practice group. He represents a broad range of public and private entities and individuals, including owners, developers, architects, engineers, construction consultants, general contractors, sureties, construction managers, subcontractors, and material suppliers. Charles has specific expertise in contract negotiations, matters concerning liens and surety bonds, and construction-related litigation, arbitration and appeals. Prior to joining Jaspan Schlesinger Narendran LLP, Charles was a partner in a law firm that focused its practice in construction law. He entered private practice after serving as executive counsel (deputy chief counsel) at the New York State Commission of Investigation where he was responsible for all litigation, as well as major investigations and administrative matters, including those related to the state’s construction industry. He was appointed to this position after serving as an assistant counsel at the Commission. Charles began his legal career as an assistant corporation counsel for the City of New York in the Special Legal Assignments Division and later the Water Tunnel Litigation Group in the Commercial Litigation Division. Active in community affairs, Charles sits on the board of and is counsel to several charitable organizations. He is a member of the Village of Great Neck’s Board of Appeals, and previously a member and chair of the Planning Board. Charles is also on the Pool Advisory Committee of the Local Park District.
