Bio

Shannon Boettjer focuses on defending and prosecuting complex, high-stakes business, commercial, and civil litigation matters with wide-ranging experience representing clients in breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, shareholder disputes, tortious interference with contracts or business relationships, lender liability, antitrust, unfair business practices, and insurance coverage litigations in state and federal courts. Shannon has further extensive experience defending global manufacturing and pharmaceutical companies in class action employment disputes, consumer class actions, product liability, mass tort, and qui tam actions. Most recently, Shannon has begun representing cannabis business clients with issues relating to licensing, financing, and investing in cannabis business ventures and litigating same. Shannon’s litigation experience spans successfully representing clients in mediations and arbitrations and at all phases of litigation, trial, and appeal, as well as overseeing and managing digital forensic examinations and negotiating and litigating ESI protocols. In addition, Shannon has received the eDiscovery Executive Certification (eDEx) from the Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS). Prior to joining Jaspan, Shannon was a Senior Counsel at an international law firm, where she specialized in insurance coverage litigation and arbitration under Bermuda Form policies. Shannon now represents insurers and policyholders in coverage disputes arising from commercial general liability (CGL), general liability (GL), professional liability, errors and omissions, D&O, and excess and umbrella policies. Shannon has broad experience advising insurance, corporate, and individual clients about insurance contract drafting and interpretation and risk management. Raised and educated in Southeast Asia, Shannon earned her Master of Arts in Teaching prior to attending law school and was a successful inner-city teacher, grant writer, and department chair. Shannon’s passion for teaching and learning underlies her distinct ability to distill complicated issues into simple parts and her success in handling complex litigation, investigation, and counseling matters. Her diverse cultural and education background, coupled with her extensive grooming at top-tier international law firms, has positioned Shannon to be particularly effective in representing a diverse clientele and working with attorneys and professionals across practice areas. At Cardozo Law School, Shannon was a member of the Trial Team and Moot Court Honor Society, a Dean’s Merit Scholar, and a Legal Writing Teacher’s Assistant. Graduating cum laude, Shannon also received the Jacob Burns Medal for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement. Shannon has been awarded the designation of Certified Litigation Management Professional (CLMP) through the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM), demonstrating her comprehensive understanding of the business of litigation management, including client relations, coverage perspectives, confidentiality, data management, risk transfer, reporting and reserving. She is certified to practice AAA commercial arbitration through the New York State Bar Association. Shannon has successfully completed the executive education course Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy through the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
