Bio

Antonia Donohue is a senior member of the Firm’s Banking and Financial Services Practice Group and a member of its Creditors’ Rights Practice Group, Litigation Practice Group, and Real Estate Practice Group. She has extensive experience representing financial institutions in foreclosure, workout, bankruptcy, collection, and litigation, including real estate, fraud, title and other banking litigation. Ms. Donohue also closes commercial real estate loan transactions, including loan modifications and restructurings. Toni is dedicated to providing prompt client service and cost effective practical advice. Toni received her Juris Doctorate from St. John’s University School of Law in 1984 where she interned with the New York State Banking Department, and she received her Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in 1981 from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She also earned diplomas in The Art of Depositions and The Art of Trial Advocacy from the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. She is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Toni is a member of the New York State Bar Association, and the Nassau County Bar Association. She has served as a member of the board of directors of a public company traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange, and as a director of not-for-profit organizations and trade associations, such as Mercyfirst, a large child welfare organization, and the Long Island Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association. Ms. Donohue was named a recipient of the Long Island Business News’ 50 Most Influential Women. In 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018, Long Island Pulse Magazine named her a “Top Legal Eagle” in the field of banking and financial services. Toni has been honored by the American Kidney Fund and served on its Fund Raising Committee for Long Island. She was also a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board of the Adelphi University Robert B. Willumstad School of Business, New York State Bankers Association, Mortgage Bankers Association of New York, Community Bankers’ Mortgage Forum, and Women Economic Developers of Long Island. Most recently, Toni has led the effort to restructure and modify millions of dollars of loans due to the pandemic. Prior to the pandemic she devoted significant time to commercial foreclosure, liquidating and restructuring hundreds of taxi cab loans, pursuing fraudulent conveyances, drafting loan purchase and sale agreements, and doing due diligence for the sale and purchase of large pools of commercial and residential loans. She recently settled a series of state court and bankruptcy fraud actions involving a large cross border check kiting scheme, and advised a non- bank client in the conduct of a public auction of mezzanine loan interests.
