Mr. Schenkel practices in the areas of real estate transactions, land use, and litigation. He has experience representing various clients including fortune 100 companies, small businesses, and individuals. He serves as general counsel for many of his clients. Mr. Schenkel regularly represents clients in complicated commercial real estate transactions and has experience representing real estate developers in commercial and residential projects. Mr. Schenkel also represents clients in a variety of land use matters before zoning boards and commissions, including special permits, variances, and subdivisions. He regularly works with real estate investors and provides counseling on various legal issues related to real estate investing, including corporate formation, financing, partnership agreements, and landlord / tenant matters. Mr. Schenkel has given local seminars and lectures on real estate and land use matters to investors in Fairfield and Hartford County. Mr. Schenkel also has experience representing both businesses and individuals in a wide range of complex commercial litigation, including business disputes, quiet title actions, boundary line disputes, land use appeals, foreclosures, breach of contract, disputes between partners, landlord / tenant, construction litigation, adverse possession, contractor disputes, and environmental. Most recently, Mr. Schenkel obtained a six-figure settlement for a client in an environmental contamination case that was nearly ten times the initial offer made by the insurance company. Mr. Schenkel also recently successfully defended a commercial litigation matter obtaining a settlement favorable to his client that was nearly 90% less than then initial demand. Mr. Schenkel regularly appears in court and municipal hearings on behalf of his clients and takes pride in never taking the easy road, but instead vigorously fighting for the best outcome for his clients. Mr. Schenkel is graduate of University of Connecticut School of Law where he graduated with honors and is a Connecticut native.
