Stephen Hackman is a partner at Ice Miller. His practice focuses primarily on federal and state securities law, including capital formation (registered public and exempt private offerings) and federal and state reporting and compliance; corporate governance; mergers and acquisitions; and commercial lending. Steve's clients are involved in a variety of industries, including medical devices, manufacturing, retail, health care, transportation, energy and agriculture, gaming, contract research, auto dealer financing and automobile redistribution. Steve regularly provides focused, strategic advice to our clients in connection with their growth plans. Steve has acted as lead counsel in numerous sophisticated and complex financing and acquisition transactions and regularly counsels clients regarding disclosure issues, corporate governance matters and compliance with the rules of the Securities and Exchange Commission and various stock exchanges. A significant portion of Steve's practice is devoted to representing public companies and large private firms. While spending a year as a member of the board of directors of a public company, Steve was able to gain a valuable perspective on the issues faced by public company directors and the dynamics of the board room. This perspective allows him to communicate effectively with boards and management while providing practical, workable solutions to the challenges faced by clients.
